Το Αμερικανικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου (AUCY) φιλοξένησε το πρώτο AUCY Day σε μία από τις πιο ζωντανές πανεπιστημιακές εκδηλώσεις που πραγματοποιήθηκαν φέτος στην Κύπρο






*THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS CELEBRATES A HISTORIC AUCY DAY 2026 WITH MORE THAN 2,500 ATTENDEES IN LARNACA*
The American University of Cyprus (AUCY) hosted its first AUCY Day on May 15, 2026, at the Municipal Amphitheater in Finikoudes, Larnaca, welcoming more than 2,500 attendees in what became one of the most vibrant university celebrations held in Cyprus this year.
Organized as part of the University’s Founder’s Day celebrations, AUCY Day 2026 brought together students, families, international communities, members of the public, artists, performers, and distinguished guests in a multicultural celebration of music, entertainment, unity, and community spirit.
AUCY Day 2026 was attended by distinguished guests including the Mayor of Larnaca, Mr. Andreas Vyras, the President of the Larnaca District Organization, Mr. Angelos Hadjicharalambous, members of the AUCY Board, Dr. Marc Antoine Zabbal, Dr. Tarek Sadek, Mr. Christos Karas, Mr. Joe Ibrahim, and Mr. Farid Haikal.
The event officially started during the afternoon with a live Mix FM broadcast directly from the venue, creating excitement and energy ahead of the official opening. Mix FM was later honored on stage by Dr. Marc Antoine Zabbal in recognition of the station’s support and partnership for the event.
The entertainment program then officially commenced with a live performance by DJ Doros, followed by an honoring ceremony presented by Mr. Joe Ibrahim. Shortly after, Dr. Marc Antoine Zabbal delivered the official opening address of AUCY Day 2026, welcoming guests, students, families, and members of the public to the University’s Founder’s Day celebration.
During the evening, Peter Kypri, widely known as “The Cypriot Smurf,” was honored on stage by Dr. Marc Antoine Zabbal before the audience enjoyed a live performance by artist Giorgos Vassiliou. Following his performance, Giorgos Vassiliou was honored by Mr. Farid Haikal in recognition of his participation and contribution to the success of the event.
The atmosphere intensified with the spectacular Justice Show Fire Show performance, creating one of the most energetic moments of the night before internationally recognized artist Mente Fuerte took the stage in front of a massive crowd of attendees. Following his performance, Mente Fuerte was honored by Mr. Christos Karas.
The official honoring ceremonies continued throughout the evening, with the Mayor of Larnaca, Mr. Andreas Vyras, being honored by members of the AUCY Board, followed by the honoring of the President of the Larnaca District Organization, Mr. Angelos Hadjicharalambous.
Popular content creator and performer OnlySkillz was also honored during the event by Mr. Christos Karas before artist Sasa Basta delivered an energetic live performance that further elevated the atmosphere of the evening. Sasa Basta was later honored on stage by Mr. Joe Ibrahim.
DJ Doros then returned to the stage, maintaining the momentum and vibrant atmosphere before internationally acclaimed artist Hovig delivered one of the most anticipated performances of the night. Following his performance, Hovig was honored by Mr. Farid Haikal.
The celebration continued after midnight with another outstanding performance by the Justice Show Dance Team, followed by a live appearance and performance by George Nakhel, who was later honored by Dr. Tarek Sadek before the event concluded with a final DJ Doros performance that kept the audience engaged until the end of the celebration.
The event was hosted by Ms. Andria Ioannou, who guided the audience through a night filled with nonstop entertainment and memorable moments.

Throughout the evening, attendees experienced a unique atmosphere that reflected the identity of the American University of Cyprus: multicultural, youthful, inclusive, dynamic, and community-oriented. The combination of international and local performers, the massive crowd turnout, and the vibrant atmosphere transformed the Municipal Amphitheater into a celebration of culture, youth, and entertainment.
The event succeeded in strengthening the connection between the University and the wider public while showcasing the diversity and spirit of the AUCY community.
Following the remarkable success of this year’s celebration, AUCY Day is expected to continue as an annual tradition and one of the leading university festivals in Cyprus, reinforcing the University’s commitment to culture, youth engagement, creativity, and community involvement.
